2021-22 UCHC Women’s Players To Watch List

Thirty-three players from the 11 United Collegiate Hockey Conference women’s institutions have been selected as Players to Watch for the 2021-22 season. The list serves as an annual preseason honor roll of players expected to make an impact on their teams, and on the conference picture as the season gets underway this weekend.
 
Alvernia University
  • Julia Beaven, Jr., G, Seaforth, Ontario – Earned All-UCHC Honorable Mention accolades in 2021 after stopping 181 shots to go along with a .938 save percentage and a pair of shutouts.
  • Ioanna Christou, So., D, Skaneateles, NY – Named to the UCHC All-Rookie Team in 2021. Was tied for the team lead with seven points (4-3-7).
  • Lexi Hooper, So., F, Charlotte, NC – Was named the MAC Rookie of the Year. Led Alvernia with five goals on the year and also added two assists. 
Team Notes: Alvernia returns 17 players from last season’s squad that advanced to the opening round of the UCHC Tournament.
 
Arcadia University
  • Sophia Szelag, Fr., G, East Windsor NJ
  • Karahkwenhawe White, Fr., F, Akwesasne NY
  • Ariel Williamson, Fr., F, Rome NY
Team Notes: Arcadia makes its Division III debut this season with 19 first-year players on the roster. The Knights play their first regular season contests on Oct. 30-31 at home versus Worcester State.
 
Chatham University
  • Cameron Carmody So. F, Eau Claire, WI – Cameron made a huge impact for the Cougars in the face-off circle, placing fourth the country in face-off winning percentage.
  • Allison Corser-James, So., F, Fort Collins CO – Was named the 2021 UCHC Rookie of the year after recording 13 goals and 19 points in 13 games played. She tallied four shorthanded goals, including a NCAA record-tying three in one game versus Lebanon Valley.
  • Katy Reed, Sr. G, St. Louis, MO – Posted a 4-2-0 record with a 2.52 goals against average and a .909 save percentage last season.
Team Notes: The Cougars welcome back 14 players from last spring after advancing to the UCHC Semifinals. Chatham is celebrating 25 years of hockey this season.
 
King’s College
  • Josee Aitken, Gr., F, Eyebrow, Saskatchewan – Fifth year forward is the program record holder with 26 career points on 13 goals and 13 assists. She was named to UCHC Preseason Watch List in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
  • Meghan Mietlicki, Sr., D, Caledonia, NY – Led the team with 73 blocked shots in 2018-19 and was twice named an All-MAC honorable mention selection
  • Emma Dos Santos,So., F, Dow, IL – Technically skilled player with game knowledge and competitive drive to match.
Team Notes: King’s will have a new look in 2021-22, as 12 newcomers will take the ice since the last time they played in February, 2020.
 
Lebanon Valley College
  • Olivia Cinrdich, Sr. F, Carnegie, PA – Tallied five points on three goals and two assists in eight games last season.
  • Shelby Guinard, Jr. G, Lunenburg, MA – Posted a .910 save percentage in eight games last season.
  • Abby Radcliffe, Jr., F, Waxhaw, NC – Tied for the team lead with six points in 2021. She has 29 career points (12-17-29) in 35 games.
 Team Notes: Lebanon Valley returns 14 players from 2021 and adds seven highly-touted newcomers to the mix.
 
Manhattanville College
  • Gabrielle Cox, Jr., F, Niverville, NY – Joins Manhattanville by way of Division I Mercyhurst University, where she played two seasons, appearing in 38 contests for the Lakers.
  • Francesca “Franny” Gerardi, Jr., G, Yonkers, NY – Girardi made 315 saves in nine games last season, including four games of 40+ saves. Played one season at Gustavus Adolphus College.
  • Morgan Miller, Jr., F, St. Augustine, FL – Led the Valiants in scoring in the abbreviated 2020-2021 season, collecting nine points on seven goals and two assists to earn All-UCHC second team accolades.
Team Notes: Manhattanville is selected to finish fourth in the 2021-22 UCHC Preseason Coaches Poll. The Valiants return 15 players from last season’s team that advanced to the UCHC Semifinals.
 
Nazareth College
  • Adrianna Brehm, Sr. G, Detroit Lakes, MN – Holds all Nazareth goaltending records with a 33-11-5 record with 13 shutouts in three seasons. She was 5-2-0 with a .925 save percentage last season.
  • Hailey Redders, Sr. F, McFarland, WI – Ranks first all-time in career scoring at Nazareth 81 points (33-48-81) in three seasons. Tied for the team lead with 12 points in 10 games last year.
  • Keeley Rose, Sr. D, Clayton, NY – Team captain has played in every game (62) over three seasons and has 56 points on 19 goals and 37 assists over that span.
Team Notes: Nazareth has had great success in its first three seasons of intercollegiate play (45-12-5 overall) and are loaded with experienced players, including 14 seniors, in their quest for a first conference title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Golden Flyers are picked to finish first in the 2021-22 UCHC Preseason Coaches Poll.
 
Neumann University
  • Katelyn Brown, Sr., F, Springfield, PA – Earned All-UCHC second team accolades in 2019-20 and honorable mention plaudits in 2018-19. Brown enters the season with 102 career points on 52 goals and 50 assists in 85 games.
  • Mikaylee Henhawk, Jr., D, Akwesasne, NY – Recorded five points in nine games, serving as Neumann’s leading scorer from the blueline.
  • Georgi Rowland, So. F, Littletown, CO – Tallied 10 points on five goals and five assists in 10 games last season.
Team Notes: Neumann returns 18 players from last season that advanced to the opening round of the UCHC Tournament. Katelyn Brown the only active career 100-point scorer in the UCHC entering this season.
 
Stevenson University
  • Karly Aguirre, Jr., F, Waltham, MA – Aguirre was named to the UCHC All-Rookie Team in 2019-20. She has 37 career points (13-24-37) in 35 games.
  • Trinity Barcless, Gr., F, Trenton, NJ – Earned All-UCHC second team honors in 2020-21 after tallying nine goals and 10 assists in 12 games.
  • Hannah Labbe, So., Winger, Pasadena, CA – Named to the UCHC All-Rookie team last season after scoring six goals and seven assists for 13 points in 11 games. 
Team Notes: The Mustangs return 20 players from last season’s team that finished 9-4-0 and bring in six newcomers. Stevenson was picked to finish third in the 2021-22 UCHC Preseason Coaches Poll.
 
Utica College
  • Maggie Rylott, Jr. F, Cobourg, Ontario – Tied for second on the squad with Whitney with 13 points in 13 games last season (4-9-13).
  • Erica Sloan, Jr, F, Potsdam, NY – Sloan led Utica with 14 points in 13 games last season.
  • Carolyn Whitney, Jr., F, Raleigh, NC – Two-time All-UCHC selection (All-Rookie team 2019-20 & First team in 2020-21), Whitney had 13 points in 11 games last season.
Team Notes: Utica returns 25 players from last spring and adds a pair of Division I transfers in Molly Pedone (Robert Morris) and Brooke Hubert (Minnesota State). Goaltender Savannah Gutierrez is back after earning All-UCHC second team honors last season and forms a strong 1-2 tandem with Angela Hawthorne. The Pioneers were picked to finish second in the 2021-22 UCHC Preseason Poll.
 
Wilkes University
  • Abby Barcless, Jr., D, Hamilton, NJ – Led team in assists during the 2020-21 season.
  • Ally Joly, Sr., G, Lincoln, RI – Named Second Team All-MAC in 2019-20.
  • Abby Miller, Jr., D, Webster, NY – Second Team All-MAC in 2020-21
Team Notes: The Colonels return 16 players from last season. This is Wilkes’ fourth year of Division III competition and its first senior class.
 
The 2021-22 regular season kicks off the weekend of Oct. 29-31. UCHC conference play starts on Nov. 4-5. The top eight teams advance to the 2022 UCHC Championship Tournament, which takes place with quarterfinal play on Feb. 22, semifinals on Feb. 26 and the league championship March 5. The UCHC Champion earns an automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Championship.

The United Collegiate Hockey Conference is a collaborative effort between eleven institutions to provide a competitive environment and structure for NCAA Division III men's and women's ice hockey in the Eastern United States.
