Pair of Second Period Goals Lifts Stevenson to Win over Neumann

ASTON, PA - The Stevenson University women's hockey team improved to 2-0-0 in the UCHC, Saturday afternoon as they defeated Neumann, 2-1.

 

  • The Mustangs tried to capitalize early on goals at the 2:31 and 2:47 minute mark but the shots were blocked and saved. 
  • At the 6:51 minute mark, Stevenson took seven shots during a power-play opportunity but all were saved by Michelle Windand-Bacon. 
  • With less than ten minutes in the first period, Neumann netted the first goal of the game. 

  • At the 2:21 minute mark, Cassie Campbell scored the equalizer as she found the back of the net for the Mustangs. 
  • Stevenson cashed in on a power-play chance at the 13:41 minute mark as Nikki Kendrick found Paige Sullivan to extend the Mustangs lead, 2-1. 

  • Within the first four minutes of the period the Mustangs got off five shots but all were unsuccessful. 
  • At the 16:55 minute mark, Stevenson fired off four consecutive shots but all saved with one going wide. 

  • Stevenson improves to 2-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the UCHC while Neumann falls to 1-5-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the UCHC. 
  • Campbell scored her first career goal while Sullivan scored her first goal of the season. Kendrick added her second assist of the season.
  • The Mustangs held a 56-15 advantage in shots over Neumann. 
  • Ainsley King recorded 14 saves in goal for the Mustangs. 
  • Stevenson was able to capitalize on one of five power-plays while Neumann went 0-4. 

  • Stevenson is back at home next Friday, November 19th as they host Utica at 7:00 PM.
