Six-Goal Second Period Guides Utica to Win Over Alvernia

READING, PA - The Utica College women's hockey team remained unbeaten in UCHC play as it downed Alvernia University 8-2 In conference action Friday evening.  Six different players scored in the win.
 
Alvernia scored a powerplay tally just 4:42 into the game to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room after 20 minutes.  The Pioneers broke the game open with a six-goal outburst in the second period. Maggie Rylott led the way with two goals and one assist, while Carolyn Whitney and Carly Stefanini had one goal and two assists apiece. 
 
Erica Sloan continued here hot start to the year as she netted two goals and Hailey Modlin and Georgiana Santullo each had one goal.  Angela Hawthorne and Lauryn brown combined for 12 saves in the win.
 
The Pioneers (7-2, 7-0 UCHC) and the Golden Wolves (3-5-1, 2-2-1 UCHC) wrap up the series Saturday at 2 p.m.
