Barcless Nets Two in 4-2 Win For Stevenson Over Alvernia

  • Stevenson started off the game strong as they held possession and fired off seven shots in the first eight minutes. 
  • At the 12:19 minute mark, Alvernia was awarded a power play in which the Golden Wolves tallied seven shots in those two minutes. Five shots were saved by Olivia DeGuire while the others were blocked. 
  • About three minutes later, the Mustangs had their chance at a power play but they were unsuccessful. Ten seconds later, Trinity Barcless and Karly Aguirre assisted Cassie Campbell for the first goal of the game. 
  • Following another Stevenson power play at the end of the period, Nikki Kendrick assisted Elizabeth Gaudreau to extend their lead to two. 

  • The Mustangs got right back at in period two. At the 2:46 minute mark, Ally Gibson and Campbell assisted Barcless for the team's third goal. 
  • At the 8:35 minute mark, Alvernia had multiple chances to get on the board as the Mustangs were successful in a penalty kill. 

  • Stevenson held their ground in the final period as they got off four shots in the first two minutes. 
  • Midway through the period, Alvernia got on the board shortly before Stevenson answered back with another goal. Gibson and Paige Sullivan assisted Barcless on another goal. 
  • With three minutes left in the game, Alvernia had more power-play opportunities. With a minute remaining the Golden Wolves scored the final goal of the game on a power play. 

  • The Mustangs recorded 42 shots while Alvernia just totaled 20. 
  • It was a high penalty affair for both teams. The Mustangs served 16 minutes on 8 infractions while Alvernia served 14 minutes on 7 infractions. 
  • DeGuire made 20 saves in the net.
  • Gaudreau added her first goal of the season in the win. 

  • The Mustangs return home tomorrow to face Alvernia at the new time of 4:15 PM. The game was originally scheduled for 7 PM.
