HERSHEY, PA – The Lebanon Valley women's hockey team notched their first win of the season with a 7-0 victory over the Hilbert Hawks.
Lebanon Valley (1-1-0) opened scoring 22 seconds into the contest with Alexa Spiers's second goal of the season. Julius Jade followed in the 14th minute with a goal off a puck from Erin Yorke to put the Dutchmen up 2-0 going into the second period. Despite defensive efforts from the Hawks to start off the second period, Mallory Burdick fired her first goal of the afternoon away in the 14
th minute off an assist from Tate Murphy. About three minutes later, Ioanna Christou put away her first collegiate goal to make it a 4-0 game for LVC going into the third. Katrina Strauts opened scoring in the third period with her first collegiate goal with an assist from Burdick in the 12
th minute. Burdick then dished out two more goals in the 14
th and 19
th minute of the match up to cap off the 7-0 win for Lebanon Valley.
Inside the Box
- Burdick slotted a five-point afternoon for LVC, putting up three goals and two assists. The first-year put away her first collegiate hat trick.
- Spiers and Strauts each had two-point games with a goal and an assist each. Strauts also led the team in the face-off category, going 16/16.
- Christou and Julius each netted a goal. Christou also put up a block on the afternoon.
- Grace Mayer, Victoria Scurto, Murphy and Yorke each had single-point games with an assist in the contest.
- Brady Irina went 10/10 in face offs.
- Olivia Magneson handed out her first collegiate assist, while making seven saves in the shutout for the Dutchmen.
