PITTSTON, PA - The Utica University women's ice hockey team scored a decisive victory on Friday. The Pioneers strung together three multi-goal periods culminating in a five goal third, while holding the opposition off the board as they topped King's College with a decisive 10-0  victory in United Collegiate Hockey Conference play.

The Pioneers improve their overall record to 2-1-1, while remaining undefeated in conference play at 2-0-1. They now have eight standings points out of a possible nine. King's College is now 0-3 to start the year. 

Erica Sloan and Hailey Modlin led the way for the Pioneers with three points apiece. Sloan had two goals and added an assist, while Modlin had a goal and two assists on her stat line for the evening. Cortney Staniszewski also scored two goals for the Pioneers. Abby Lillis, Holly Silva, Kelsey Elliott, Hannah Keating, and Maggie Rylott also had a goal apiece. Elliott's was the first of her Utica career. Georgiana Santullo posted two assists. 

Angela Hawthorne made three saves in 20 minutes of work for the Pioneers before turning the net over to Lauryn Brown. Brown logged five saves in relief. 

Syd Dahl made 67 saves for the Monarchs. 

The Pioneers had 77 shots on goal, compared to just eight for the home team. They converted both of their power play chances while holding the Monarchs off the board on both of their extra skater opportunities. Utica attempted 123 total shots in the game. 

The Pioneers roared out to a 2-0 lead through 20 minutes on goals from Rylott and Modlin. That lead expanded to 5-0 after the second period of play with Lillis, Sloan, and Elliott finding the back of the net. 

The third period featured both of the team's power play goals, credited to Sloan and Staniszewski. The extra player markers were joined by even strength contributions from Silva, Keating, and a second goal by Staniszewski as the Pioneers walked away with a lopsided win. 

The two teams meet again on Saturday. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
