Wiljanen Nets a Pair of Goals for Nazareth in 7-1 Win Over Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, PA – Senior Makenna Wiljanen added a pair of goals in the second period and Nazareth had five other goal scorers in a 7-1 win over Wilkes University on Friday night in UCHC play. The Golden Flyers improve to 3-0 overall and in the UCHC, while Wilkes falls to 2-3 and 2-1, respectively.
 
The Golden Flyers led 3-1 after the opening period, beginning with Abby Luth on the power play at the midway point with assists credited to Olivia Miller-Johnson and Ivey Lyden.
 
Around three minutes later, Julia Holmes added an even strength goal from Luth and Ally Watrous.

Less than a minute later, Nikolle Van Stralen lit the lamp to make it 3-0 for the visitors. Sophia Nortz earned the assist.
 
After a goal from the Colonels in the first period to make it 3-1, the Golden Flyers tallied the next four goals of the game, including three in the second period.
 
Corsica Skibinski started off the scoring from Zoe Dupuis. That led Wiljananen to net back-to-back goals, one at even strength and the other on the power play to take a 6-1 lead into the second intermission. Nazareth finished the game 2-for-3 on the power play.
 
Freshman Audrey Donahue netted her first-career goal off an assist from Corsica at the 12:21 mark of the third to close out the scoring.

McKinley Hoff earned the win in net, making 12 saves.
 
Nazareth returns to action on Saturday against Wilkes with a 3:30 p.m. puck drop.
