Kaczorowski’s Two Goals Earn LaBaff First Wilkes Women’s Ice Hockey Win

ASTON, PA – Junior Bella Kaczorowski scored two second period goals to lead the Wilkes University women's ice hockey team past host Neumann University in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action Friday to earn head coach Dave LaBaff the first victory of his tenure with the team.

Wilkes improved to 1-2-0 overall on the season and start UCHC play at 1-0-0. Neumann dropped to 0-3-0 and 0-1-0 in the league with the home loss.

Addy Olson earned the win as the junior goaltender stopped 24 of 25 shots she faced in the crease.

Neumann gained a 1-0 lead at the 18:34 mark of the first period.

Kaczorowski stormed the Colonels into the lead with her second period scoring outburst. She first lit the lamp 9:04 into the period with assists coming from Abby Miller and Anneke Bouma. The assist was the first career point for Bouma, the first-year defender.

Kaczorowski netted the game-winner off an assist from Abigail Davis at the 18:51 mark of the second.

Olson stopped all six shots she faced in the third period to preserve the one-goal victory.

Kaczorowski and Rachel Morey led Wilkes with nine shots-on-goal each. Wilkes outshot Neumann 33-25 for the game. Morey won 19-of-29 faceoffs to lead the Colonels who held a 30-27 edge in the game. Morey also led the Colonels with three blocked shots.

Jamiyah Alexander scored the goal for the Knights while Michelle Winand-Bacon made 31 saves in the losing effort.

The two sides will finish the UCHC series tomorrow with puck drop scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Aston, Pa.
