Utica Sets New Single-Season Win Record With Lopsided Victory Over Wilkes

UTICA, NY - The Utica College women's hockey team set a new program record with its 20th win of the season as it downed Wilkes University 12-2 in UCHC Conference action Saturday afternoon.  Utica had 13 different players register at least one point in the win.
 
Despite Wilkes scoring the first goal, Utica responded with seven goals in the opening period, including a hat trick from junior Erica Sloan. Utica tacked on four more scores in the second stanza and one in the third to earn the lopsided victory. 
 
Sloan finished with a team-high four goals and she also added one assist. Senior Georgiana Santullo finished with four points as she netted one goal and added three assists. With the scores, she became the first player in 18 years and just the third in program history to record 50 points in a season. Santullo also became just the sixth player at UC to record 100 points in her career.
 
Sophomore Carly Stefanini also had a four-point evening as she dished out a career-high four assists as she extended her scoring streak to eight games, the longest such streak of her career.
 
Graduate student Rebecca Brown had a three-point outing on one goal and two assists junior transfer Erica Sheaffer scored the first two goals of her Utica career. Juniors Maggie Rylott and Carolyn Whitney chipped with a goal and an assist each and Molly Pedone and Cortney Staniszewski factored into the scoring with one goal each.
 
Savannah Gutierrez and Lauryn Brown combined for eight saves for the Pioneers.
 
Utica (20-3, 17-1 UCHC) return to action next weekend as they host nationally ranked No. 7 Nazareth College in the regular season finale. Friday's puck drop is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. while Saturday's will be at 1:30 p.m.
