Making the most of the momentum, the Cougars had another quick strike, scoring off of the second period-opening face-off. Corser-James would find the back of the net off of a play set up by first-year Samantha Barrett and Almond for her 24th assist of the season. On the penalty kill late in the period, Nolan would intercept a pass and drive to the net, collecting her own rebound before shoveling a backhand shot under to crossbar to give the Cougars the 3-0 lead.
Corser-James would take a page from Nolan's book in the third, scoring on the penalty kill once again to increase the lead to four. Though the Mustangs would eventually find the back of the net, it was too little too late.
Senior goaltender Katy Reed made 27 saves in net for the win.
