Three Power Play Goals Help No. 13 Nazareth Past Arcadia, 5-1

GLENSDALE, PA – The Nazareth women's hockey team netted three power play goals en route to a weekend sweep at Arcadia, downing the Knights 5-1 on Saturday. Ally Watrous netted a pair of goals, while Abbey Luth provided three helpers and Julia Holmes notched two assists.
 
With the win, No. 13 Nazareth improves to 13-3 on the season and 12-0 in UCHC play, while Arcadia drops to 6-7-2 and 2-6-2 in conference games.  
 
The Knights were able to get the first goal of the game past the midway point of the first, but Nazareth responded with the next five goals. The Golden Flyers evened the score with just sixteen seconds left in the period on Watrous' first power play goal of the season. Watrous jammed in a rebound attempt with assists credited to Luth and Ivey Lyden.
 
Makenna Wiljanen scored her second goal of the weekend and team-leading 12th of the season on a power play early in the second to make it 2-1. Holmes ripped a shot from the point and Wiljanen re-directed it in front. Olivia Miller-Johnson also picked up an assist on the play.
 
The visitors added two more goals within a 1:39 span late in the second to open up a 4-1 lead heading into the last intermission. Maggie Pfalzgraf notched an even strength goal in tight with assists to Delaney Carle and Luth. Luth currently leads Nazareth in points (20) and assists (13).
 
Shortly after, Watrous intercepted a puck on a forecheck and rifled it into the net for her second of the game and seventh of the season.
 
In the final period Nazareth tallied one more on the power play from Miller-Johnson with assists to Luth and Holmes.
 
MaÏka Paquin finished the game with 12 saves in net to pick up her sixth win of the season.
 
Nazareth will travel to 11th-ranked Elmira next Saturday for a non-conference showdown at 3 p.m.
