WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team turned in an impressive second period, scoring five times, to help lead the team to a 6-1 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory over visiting Lebanon Valley College at the Toyota SportsPlex Friday evening.

The win moved Wilkes to 5-4-1 overall and to 3-4-1 in the UCHC. It also moved the team into a tie for the program's single season wins record and head coach Dave LaBaff became the program's all-time winningest coach with his ninth Colonels victory. The six goals also tied the team single-game record set twice before against MCLA to open the 2023-24 season.

Lebanon Valley dropped to 3-6-0 overall and to 2-5-0 in the conference with the road loss.

The two teams went scoreless during the first period as Audrey Milne made six saves for Wilkes and Mia Frisoni 10 for LVC.

The game remained scoreless until nearly midway through the second period when Haylee Bouchard scored her fourth of the season with an assist coming from Lily Zingaro. The goal at 9:26 into the second opened the floodgates for the Colonels offense.

A little over two minutes later Jordan Ferry tallied her third of the season with assists coming from Bella Kaczorowski and Abby Miller. Kayli Dubé (Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, Quebec) made it 3-0 at the 14:57 mark with her first career goal as Savanna Maxon assisted on the play.

The goal scoring did not stop there as Julie Patterson scored on the power play less than two minutes later with an assist from Allie Spencer. For Patterson it was her third goal of the year. Just 53 seconds later the Flying Dutchmen got on the scoreboard as Brenna Mulcahy scored on a breakaway to make it 4-1.

Wilkes did not let the second period end though without adding its fifth goal of the frame with just eight seconds left. Zingaro scored her second of the year off assists from Bouchard and Tilly Wierdsma.

The Colonels held a 17-5 shots advantage in the second period to outscore LVC 5-1.

Wilkes continued to dominate play in the third period which was filled with three penalties on each team. The Colonels outshot the Flying Dutchmen 15-5 over the final 20 minutes and added the game's sixth goal at the 3:37 mark when Bouchard scored her second of the game with assists coming from Rachel Morey and Zingaro. For Morey, it was her eighth assist of the season which tied her own program single season record from last season.

Wilkes outshot Lebanon Valley 42-16 in the game and went 1-for-4 on the power play. LVC was 0-for-3 on the power play. The Flying Dutchmen won 34 faceoffs compared to 26 for the Colonels.
