Wilkes Grounds Flying Dutchman with 4-0 Win, Finish Sweep at Lebanon Valley

HERSHEY, PA – Wilkes women's ice hockey completed the weekend sweep of Lebanon Valley College with a 4-0 victory on the road Saturday afternoon, a new program-best sixth win of the year.

With the victory the Colonels improve to 6-4-1 overall and 4-4-1 in UCHC play, while the Flying Dutchmen fall to 3-7-0 overall and 2-6-0 in conference play.

Lebanon Valley drew the first penalty of the day at 11:04 in the first period for roughing, and the Colonels capitalized off the stick of Haylee Bouchard. Adding to her two-goal performance on Friday, the first year rifled Wilkes into the lead on the power play with 12:26 gone in the first. Wilkes tripled Lebanon Valley's shots in the period 12-4 and took the 1-0 lead with them into the first intermission.

The Colonels added two more goals in the second period, both in rapid succession while shorthanded. At 5:42, Abby Miller was called for hooking. At 7:08, Abigail Barcless found the back of the net thanks to the assist from Bella Kaczorowski to make the lead 2-0 Wilkes. 37 seconds later, Jordan Ferry scored on another assist by Kaczorowski to give the Colonels a 3-0 lead. Wilkes earned a power play late in the period but were unable to add to the lead and went into the second intermission with a 3-0 advantage.

Wilkes continued the offensive attack with 11 more shots to nine for the Flying Dutchmen, finding the final goal of the day on the final shot at 18:35. Graduate student Julie Patterson was the Colonel who lit the lamp, assisted by Anneke Bouma to put the game away for Wilkes' third straight win.

The Colonels outshot the Flying Dutchmen 29-18 and went 1-4 on the power play compared to 0-3 for Lebanon Valley. Both teams were even at the faceoff circle, winning 28 and losing 28.
Audrey Milne earned the win between the pipes for Wilkes, making 16 saves. Jorja Fisher made 25 saves in the loss for Lebanon Valley.

Ferry, Kaczorowski, and Tilly Weirdsma all earned a team-high three points on the night, with Kaczorowski leading the team with two assists. Ferry went 10-21 from the faceoff circle for the Colonels. Patterson had the most shots on goal with five.

Anna Dale led Lebanon Valley with five shots on goal and Tiffany Anderson went 13-17 on faceoffs. Alexis Oukes blocked six shots on the day.

The Colonels return to the rink in 2024, ringing in the new year with a four-game road trip starting in Rochester, N.Y. against Nazareth University on Friday, January 5 at 7:00 p.m.
