READING, PA - Chatham Women's Hockey earned the No. 5 seed in the UCHC Tournament, consequently traveling to No. 4 Alvernia today for their quarterfinal matchup. The Cougars would maintain the lead throughout, ending with a 3-1 final and advancing to the UCHC Semifinal.
Senior Fiona Danahy started the scoring early in the game, backhanding a shot over Alvernia goaltender Julia Beaven's shoulder to go up 1-0. Junior Riley Malicki assisted in the game-opening goal.
Next on the scoresheet was sophomore Karalyn Luby, who tipped a shot from senior Dena Akers.
Alvernia would score with under four minutes to go, but junior Cameron Carmody took it upon herself to double the Golden Wolves' goal deficit yet again just 13 seconds later. Carmody also won a game-high 13 draws in the circle.
Junior goaltender Lilly Rogers was solid in goal, making 24 stops total and keeping the Golden Wolves from scoring on several of their power-plays.
Chatham will head to Rochester to face top-seed Nazareth College on Saturday at a time to be determined in the semifinals.
