WILKES-BARRE, PA – No. 14 Nazareth faced a record-breaking performance on Friday night as King's goaltender Syd Dahl made 79 saves in a 2-0 losing effort. The Golden Flyers got goals from Ali Fujiyoshi and Maggie Pfalzgraf.
King's, 0-18-2 overall and 0-15-2 UCHC play, got a magnificent game from their goaltender to remain in the contest throughout. The 79 saves was a school record.
Nazareth, 15-5 overall and 14-1 in the league play, eventually broke the scoring late in the first period on a goal from Fujiyoshi. The senior picked off the puck in the natural zone, allowing Makenna Wiljanen to streak in for a shot, before Fujisyoshi jammed home the rebound. After not scoring a goal for most of the season, Fujiyoshi has now scored in each of the last two games.
With just over 12 minutes to play in the second, Nazareth scored its other goal of the game on Maggie Pfalzgraf's seventh goal of the season. Freshman Corsica Skabinski led a 2-on-1 opportunity and Pfzalgraf delivered on the beautiful feed.
McKinley Hoff finished with seven saves in net.
Ally Watrous finished with a game-high 12 shots, while Julia Holmes had nine.
Nazareth and King's will square off on Saturday at 2 p.m.
