Nortz, Carle Score Twice In No. 14 Nazareth's Victory Over King's

WILKES, BARRE, PA – Sophia Nortz and Delaney Carle each scored two goals apiece as the 14th-ranked women's hockey squad cruised to an 8-1 victory over King's College on Saturday to complete the weekend sweep. Ally Watrous tallied three assists in the winning effort.
 
Nazareth moves to 16-5 on the year and 15-1 in UCHC, play while the Monarchs remain winless at 0-19-2 and 0-16-2 in league play.
 
The Golden Flyers added a pair of goals in each of the first two periods and erupted for five in the third.
 
Nortz scored her first of the day off a rebound with less than seven minutes left in the opening period off an initial shot from Maggie Pfalzgraf.
 
Late in the period, Audrey Donahue rifled a wrist shot from Carle to push the Golden Flyers lead to 2-0.
 
Less than a minute into the second, Nazareth capitalized on the power play, with freshman Sydney Gurlea lighting the lamp from Watrous and Ali Fujiyoshi.
 
At the 8:37 mark, Nortz netted her second of the game from Olivia Miller-Johnson to make it 4-0. It was the first multi-goal game of Nortz' career.
 
Just :18 seconds into the third, Pfalzgraf got in on the scoring with her eighth goal of the season.
 
Carle scored both her goals in the third period, including the last of the game on the power play from Fujioyoshi and Watrous. Zoe Dupuis was the other goal scorer for Nazareth.
 
MaÏka Paquin made five saves in the win and allowed one goal.
