How it Happened
- A scoreless first period saw Alvernia and Chatham near level on shots on goal with the Golden Wolves recording seven and the Cougar's tallied eight but neither team could score the puck as the game went into the first intermission tied at zero.
- Both Chatham and Alvernia struggled to find any offensive rhythm in the second period as well with both teams unable to find the back of the net. Alvernia recorded the best chance of the period when the Golden Wolves had a goal waved off due to a high stick. In the final two minutes of the second period, Alvernia's Riley Hill fired a shot that was saved by Chatham's Lindsey Batz but the puck shot straight up in the air and was swatted down and into the goal by the Golden Wolves but was called off for a high sticking offense, sending the game into the final intermission knotted at zero still.
- The Golden Wolves broke the scoring drought just under five minutes into the third period when Sydney Bradley found Julia Franklin up the ice, Franklin then connected with Khenzie Connick who fired the puck past Batz and into the back of the net to give Alvernia a 1-0 advantage.
- Alvernia continued to control the pace of the period, sending ten shots on goal over the next 12 minutes until Sikke Ask scored the puck for the Golden Wolves on a power play thanks to assists from Alex Robertson and Amber Steinhilpert to double Alvernia's lead in the final three minutes of the game.
- The Golden Wolves tallied one more for good measure in the final two minutes of the contest when Steinhilpert added her name to the goal sheet with an empty net goal after an assist from Robertson to secure the 3-0 shutout victory over the Cougars.
