Almond and Corser-James Lead the Way for Chatham in Win over King's

PITTSTON, PA - The Chatham women's hockey team evened the season series against the King's College Monarchs (5-17-1, 4-13-1 UCHC) by the score of 3-1 on Saturday. Senior Allie Corser-James and fifth-year Brooke Almond combined for six total points in the win. Chatham is now 10-8-3 overall and 8-8-2 in conference play.

The Cougars were first to score on a power play at the 15:27 mark. Nearly all five skaters touched the puck before Corser-James scored off assists from Almond and senior Ally Nolan. The shots on goal favored the Cougars 9-8 as they also won the face-off margin 9-8.

In the second, Almond scored her tenth goal of the season with the help of Corser-James and freshman Dalia Samoulidis. Chatham went on to extend its lead on a goal by Nolan with a minute remaining in the period. Once again, Corser-James and Almond were contributors. The Cougars had more shots on goal (16-6) and led 3-0 entering the final period.

The women held their three-goal advantage for the majority of the period until King's scored with four minutes left on the clock. The game would end with Chatham winning 3-1, ending its three-game losing streak.

It was the upperclassmen who helped get the Cougars back on course. Almond (3), Corser-James (3) and Nolan (2) combined for 8 points. Both Nolan (29) and Corser-James (23) are within the top ten in points for the conference. Sophomore Samantha Brophy took over goalie duties and saved 24 out of 25 shots.

The Purple and Grey will close the regular season at home against Arcadia beginning on Friday at 7 p.m.
