Sharp's Late Goal Lifts Nazareth Over Arcadia, 2-1 for Weekend Sweep

Golden Flyers maintain eight-point lead in league standings with four games to play.

ROCHESTER, NY – For the second day in a row, the Nazareth women's hockey team nipped Arcadia 2-1 to complete the home weekend sweep. With the game tied at 1 late in the third, Nikki Sharp put home a blocked shot with under four minutes to play for what proved to be the game-winning goal.

Nazareth is now eight points up on Utica in the standings and sits 15-5-1 overall and 15-0-1 in UCHC play. Arcadia is now 13-7 overall and 10-5 in league play.
 
Ella Cedrone scored her eighth goal of the season with five minutes left in the first period. She caught the Arcadia goaltender off guard, firing a shot from outside the blue line into the net from Zoe Dupuis and Audrey Donahue. 
 
The score would remain 1-0 until five minutes into the third when the Knights evened the score after putting pressure on throughout.
 
Nazareth kept the foot on the gas and eventually a second effort by Sharp helped her net the seventh of the season with 3:38 to play.
 
McKinley Hoff completed her stellar weekend between the pipes by allowing just one goal and stopping 26 shots on Saturday.
 
Nazareth returns to action on February 9 traveling to Lebanon Valley for a 7 p.m. contest.
