RYE, NY - The No. 7 ranked Nazareth women's ice hockey team continued its dominant early-season on Saturday afternoon, powering past Manhattanville for a 7-1 victory at Playland Ice Casino. With the win, the Golden Flyers improve to 6-0, while the Valiants fall to 0-4, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Nazareth came out sharp in the opening period, striking first on the power play at 5:49. Junior Meredith Boettcher buried a rebound in front of the net, set up by sophomore Ave Meteyer and freshman Ella Konrad, to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead. The advantage doubled at 7:52 when sophomore Amy Laskowski found the back of the net off a feed from junior Allie Zack, sending Nazareth into the second period up by 2-0.
The Flyers extended their lead early in the second. At 6:57, sophomore Brooke Judkiewicz finished a clean passing sequence from junior Logan Marchese and Boettcher to make it 3-0. Manhattanville momentarily halted the surge with an even-strength tally at 10:11, cutting the lead to 3-1.
Nazareth quickly regained full control on the power play. At 18:52, Konrad ripped a power play point to push the lead to 4-1. Just 47 seconds later, again with the skater advantage, junior Nikki Sharp had a goal at 19:39 off a setup from freshman Mia Abruzzese, extending the margin to 5-1 heading into the break.
Nazareth maintained pressure throughout the third period, adding two more goals. At 5:18, Laskowski netted her second of the game to make it 6-1 off a setup from Sharp. Later at 13:01, Sharp tallied her second of the day to cap off the scoring and seal a 7-1 win.

- The Golden Flyers controlled the faceoff circle, winning 34 of 59 faceoffs (57.6%).
