Ciappa Nets Two Goals For St. John Fisher In 4-1 Victory Over Albertus Magnus

FAIRPORT, NY – The St. John Fisher University men's ice hockey team posted a 4-1 conference win against Albertus Magnus College on Friday night at the Rochester Ice Center. The Cardinals improved to 5-2-0 overall (2-1-0 UCHC), while the Falcons fell to 3-3-0 overall (0-3-0 UCHC).

How it Happened

Less than nine minutes into the opening period, the Falcons struck first, with Zeth Kiindrachuk tallying the game's opening goal.

With under seven minutes left in the second period, the Cardinals pulled even when Brendan Merriman and Ian Emery connected with Lucas Di Chiara, who buried the equalizer.

Just ten seconds into the final period, Sam Ciappa slipped a short-handed goal past Albertus goaltender Chance Hale to give the Cardinals their first lead of the night. St. John Fisher kept the momentum rolling as Ciappa netted his second of the game off a feed from Mitchell Ferras and Carter Cwiklinski later in the period.

The Falcons pulled its goaltender with less than two minutes remaining in the game, allowing Ian Emery to seal it with an empty-net goal.

  •  Senior goaltender Sebastian Wood made 31 saves.

  • Ciappa recorded two goals, his second time this season with multiple goals. He has five goals on the season, which leads the team.
