Albertus Magnus Takes Down Skidmore In Home Opener

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team opened up its home schedule with a 4-2 win over Skidmore College at Ralph Walker Ice Rink on Friday evening in a non-conference game.

The Falcons distributed the scoring around as four different players scored a goal. Zane Kindrachuk (Calgary, Alberta), Robert Barrasso (Mountain Lakes, N.J.), Caden Pattison (Lake Stevens, Wash.), and Justin Sullivan (Laval, Quebec) each scored a goal. For Sullivan, it was his first career goal.

Chace Hale (Pittsburgh, Pa.) got the win in net for Albertus, stopping 25 shots, and also was credited with his first career assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a scoreless 17 minutes, the Falcons scored twice in a span of 39 seconds. At the 17:34 mark while on a power play, a shot by Peter Keese (Minnetonka, MN) was stopped, but the rebound went to Eric Chamandy (Montreal, Quebec) who fed Barrasso in front of the net. Barrasso was able to stuff the goal past Skidmore goaltender, Tommy Aitken to make it a 1-0 game.
  • Albertus made it a two-goal lead after a shot by Connor Bertamini (Calgary, Alberta) was stopped by Aitken, who left half of the net wide open. Pattison grabbed the rebound and put it home, making it a 2-0 game.
  • Hale stopped eight shots in the first period and nine more in a scoreless second period as the Falcons led 2-0 going into the third period.
  • In the third period, Sullivan stole the puck in the defensive end and rushed down the ice, firing a shot past Aitken for his first career goal at the 5:37 mark.
  • Shane Baker of Skidmore scored his first of two goals at the 10:51 mark on a 5-on-3.
  • Kindrachuk added an empty net goal after a pass from Hale to make it a 4-1 game.
  • Baker added one more goal with under a minute left for Skidmore.
