ELMIRA, NY – The Elmira College men's ice hockey team collected their first win of the season in a nail-bitter at the Murray Athletic Center against SUNY Potsdam. Goals from Makai Tarjamo and Eric Bertelsen were the difference makers in a 2-1 victory over the Bears.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A gruesome first period saw both teams evenly matched until the Bears took the first lead of the evening in the 16th minute on a power play. Both teams recorded nine shots in the first period along with Brody Hanes gloving eight.
- In the first minute of play in the second period, Eric Bertelesen netted the equalizer and the first goal of the season to give the Soaring Eagles another even playing field.
- An intense second period was highlighted by the Soaring Eagles recording 15 shots on goal.
- Tarjamo secured the game winning goal in the seventh minute of the third period.
- With no room to move, both teams had to work hard on defense with both sides recording six shots on goal.
- From that point on, Elmira's defense—along with goalie Brody Haynes (who stopped all 16 shots he faced) held firm despite Potsdam's efforts to mount a comeback.
