Nazareth Earns 3-1 Win Over SUNY Potsdam

ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth men's hockey team took home a 3-1 victory over Potsdam on Saturday behind goals from Antoine Lucier, Gabe Cull, and Logan Tobias. Nazareth improves to 3-1 overall, while Potsdam drops to 2-2. 

How it Happened:
  • Will Halecki had a great chance at 9:49 in, hitting the pipe on close opportunity.
  • Midway through the opening period, Nazareth took advantage of a power play opportunity. Tobias found Lucier for a wrist shot. Nate Mann also picked up an assist on the play.
  • After taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, the Golden Flyers added a pair of goals in the second to open up a 3-0 lead.
  • Off a draw win from Halecki, Mark Meinecke fired a shot that was blocked and then Gabe Cull one-timed a slap shot just over four minutes in for his second of the season.
  • Logan Tobias threw an initial shot off the boards and followed up his rebounds for his first goal of the season at the 9:10 mark. Blake Frost and Lucier earned assists on the play.
  • The Bears added a goal early in the third but the Golden Flyers were able to buckle down the rest of the way to earn the 3-1 win.
  • First-year goalie Mason Joseph was strong in net making 10 saves in each of the final two periods, totaling 28 for the game to earn his second career win.

  • Nazareth opens up UCHC play on Friday, traveling to Chatham for a 4 p.m. contest. The Golden Flyers will also play the Cougars on Saturday at 1 p.m.
