FAIRPORT, NY – The St. John Fisher women's ice hockey team recorded its first-ever victory on its home ice on Friday night, topping Wesleyan 2-1 at the Rochester Ice Center. The Cardinals improved to 3-5-1 overall, and Wesleyan slipped to 0-6-1.
How It Happened
After a scoreless opening period, the Cardinals broke through six minutes into the second frame on Keira Reckley's unassisted power-play goal. The Cardinals doubled their lead in the late stages of the period when Sophie Grant found the twine on a feed from Eibhleann Knox.
Wesleyan got on the board early in the third period on Parker Caldara's unassisted goal, but Fisher preserved a one-goal lead the rest of the way.
Cardinals goalkeeper Brynn Bacak finished the game with 34 saves, making a game-high 13 stops in the final period.
