Dameski Leads No. 9 SUNY Geneseo to 4-0 Win Over St. John Fisher

GENESEO, NY - The SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team had a weekend sweep over the St. John Fisher, ending with a 4-0 shutout win over the Cardinals on Saturday night. The Knights advance to 8-3-1 overall and lead the UCHC with a 5-1-0 record while Fisher falls to 7-5-0 and 2-4-0 in conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Geneseo set the tone early in the first, putting 15 shots on goal until Alex Dameski lit the lamp on a breakaway goal with 30 seconds to play. 
  • Filip Wiberg tallied the second goal of the night at 9:53, tipping in a shot from Sean Melso at the point to make it 2-0.
  • Dameski added another to his sheet five minutes into the third, going top shelf to extend the Knights lead. Wiberg and Dakota Zarudny were on the assist.
  • Geneseo notched their final goal with Cameron Ricotta picking up the rebound off Zarudny's shot, sealing the game with a final score of 4-0. The Knights improve to 8-3-1 overall and 5-1-0 in the UCHC conference.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Jacob Torgner made 22 saves in net to tally his fourth career shutout.
  • Alex Dameski led the team with two goals, leading the team with eight goals.
  • Filip Wiberg leads the team and UCHC with 18 points after tallying a goal and assist this evening.
