Nazareth Secures Big UCHC Win over Manhattanville, 4-1

ROCHESTER, NY - A two goal performance from Charles Ross and 29 saves from Mason Joseph powered the Golden Flyers to a 4–1 victory over Manhattanville on home ice Friday night.

How It Happened:
  • In the first minute of the game, Blake Frost had a great opportunity to take an early lead as he stole the puck from the Manhattanville defender and was all alone in front but the Manhattanville goalie made a great stop.
  • Just under nine minutes in, Charles Ross scored from the point to make it 1-0 Golden Flyers. Harrison Dumas made a great play entering the zone and was able to find Ross at the point who made no mistake. Will Halecki was credited with the other assist.
  • Five minutes later, Mark Meinecke would score an unassisted goal off a Manhattanville turnover as he let a wrist shot go from the blue line.
  • In the final minute of the 1st period, Manhattanville would capitalize on the power play to cut the Nazareth lead to 2-1.
  • The first period shots would end 14-10, in favor of the Golden Flyers.
  • Halfway through the second Antione Lucier had a breakaway opportunity but hit the post, keeping the score 2-1 in favor of the Golden Flyers.
  • Despite a penalty-heavy second period, neither team was able to capitalize. Nazareth would still lead in shots, 21–20.
  • 10 minutes into the 3rd, it looked like Manhattanville would tie the game but defenseman Charles Ross made a great save at the goalline to preserve the Nazareth lead.
  • With five minutes left to play, Charles Ross would grab the insurance marker for the Golden Flyers scoring a spectacular unassisted goal.
  • Matthew Fehr would pick up an empty net goal to make it 4-1 Golden Flyers late in the 3rd.
  • Nazareth outshot Manhattanville 37-30
