No. 5 Nazareth Grinds Out 6-4 Win Over Wesleyan

ROCHESTER, NY – The fifth-ranked Nazareth women's hockey team scored four third period goals to come-from-behind and beat Wesleyan University on Saturday at Tim Horton's Iceplex. It marks Nazareth's tenth win of the season as it remains perfect at 10-0, while Wesleyan drops to 0-7-1.

How it Happened:
  • Amy Laskowski continued her red-hot streak, netting her 14th goal of the season. She took a long outlet pass from Nikki Sharp and beat a defender to find the net. Allie Zack had the secondary assist.
  • Nazareth was hampered in the opening period by penalties, killing off a 5-on-3 for 1:23 at the 8-minute mark of the period.
  • Wesleyan, however, made good on its third power play and it was 1-1 at the break.
  • The Golden Flyers took a 2-1 lead at the 11:56 mark of the second on their first short handed goal of the season. A hustle forecheck from Brooke Judkiewicz to steal the puck and find Meredith Boettcher pushed the hosts back in front.
  • Wesleyan evened the game with 2:35 to play, and went ahead with just .02 on the clock off a power play goal.
  • Zack scored twice on the power play in the third, the first to tie the game at 3-3, and the next to make it 5-3. Judkiewicz scored in between the goals from Mia Abruzzese and Boetccher.
  • The Cardinals made it interesting by coming within 5-4 with under three minutes remaining but a game sealing goal from Laskowski with 1:10 to play was critical.
  • Mia Gonsalves made 24 saves to earn the win.
Game Notes
  • The Game was riddled with penalties as Nazareth went 2-for-4 on the power-play while surrendering 2-of-7 on the penalty-kill.

  • With Laskowksi's two goals, she extends her point streak to six games.
