Albertus Magnus Rallies From Two Goals Down To Beat Elmira In UCHC Tilt

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team overcame a two-goal deficit en route to a 5-3 win over Elmira College in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) clash on Friday evening at Ralph Walker Ice Rink.

Zane Kindrachuk (Calgary, Alberta), Sam Lozinski (Calgary, Alberta) and Peter Keese (Minnetonka, MN) each had a goal and an assist for Albertus. Kyle Dann  (Windham, N.H.) added a goal and Brett Boucher (Fort McMurray, Alberta) scored his first career goal.

Chace Hale (Pittsburgh, Pa.) earned the win in net, stopping 32 shots on the evening.

The Falcons have now won three straight games.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Soaring Eagles scored twice in the first period to take a 2-0 lead. Cam Lowe scored on a power play opportunity at the 7:33 mark on a shot from the slot. In the final two minutes Austin Jerzak added a goal for the two-goal lead.
  • Kindrachuk scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season to put the Falcons on the board at the 8:37 mark of the second as Lozinski took the puck from the defensive end and led Kindrachuk with a pass as he skated past two defenders and had an open shot at the net to make it a 2-1 game.
  • On a 4-on-4 at the 15:13 mark of the second period, Dann received the puck at center ice and raced down, beating the Elmira defense and beating Elmira goaltender, Brody Haynes glove side to tie the game, 2-2.
  • Lozinski extended his goal streak to three games and gave Albertus a 3-2 lead at 5:08 in the third as he rushed towards the net and backhanded a shot right in front of the net while being knocked down for the first lead of the game for the Falcons.
  • Elmira added another power-play goal courtesy of Justin Pare at the 8:36 mark, tying the game once again at 3-3.
  • At the 17:04 mark in the third, Keese scored what proved to be the game-winner as he deflected in a shot from Charles Lavoie (Chicoutimi, Quebec) into the back of the net giving Albertus the 4-3 lead late.
  • Boucher sealed the win on an empty net goal with less than a second remaining.

NOTEWORTHY

Dann has a point in four of his last five games.

Kindrachuk has five pointsin his last three games.
