St. John Fisher Earns Shutout Win Over Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY – The St. John Fisher men's ice hockey team bounced back with a 2-0 road win over SUNY Brockport on Saturday. The Cardinals improved to 9-7-0 overall (3-5-0 UCHC) while the Golden Eagles fell to 6-9-0 (4-4-0 UCHC).

How it Happened

The Cardinals opened the scoring more than 17 minutes into the first period when Mike Markowski and Brendan Merriman set up Elijah Deveraux.

Both teams played strong defense in the second period, as the Cardinals and Golden Eagles each recorded nine shots on goal.

With less than two minutes remaining in regulation, the Cardinals sealed the victory when Sam Ciappa scored a shorthanded empty-net goal.

  • Ciappa has scored two goals over the past four games and leads the team in both goals and points.

  • Junior forward Merriman has recorded three assists over the past four games.

  • Goaltender Sebastian Woods made 32 saves to earn his first shutout as a Cardinal.
