BROCKPORT, NY - After falling behind 2-0 early, the Golden Flyers stormed back and capped the night with a 4-3 overtime victory over Brockport in a critical conference matchup on Friday night. Nazareth improves to 13-6-3 overall and 7-5-1 in conference play, clinching a UCHC postseason berth.
How It Happened:
- Brockport got off to a fast start, scoring two goals just a minute apart to take a 2-0 lead six minutes into the first period.
- About seven minutes later, Blake Frost's centering pass would find Owen Heidelberger in the slot to give the Golden Flyers a massive goal, cutting the Brockport lead to 2-1.
- The shots on goal after the first period were 10-9 in favor of Brockport.
- Twelve minutes into the second period, Nazareth struck again as Hudson Nadasdi jammed the puck home during a mad scramble in front, tying the game 2-2. Harrison Dumas picked up the only assist on the play.
- Nazareth would lead in shots 22-19 through two periods.
- Just past the midway point of the third, Cameron Bauer ripped a wrist shot from the slot off a drop pass from Gabriel Laflamme, pulling the Golden Flyers ahead 3-2. Antoine Lucier had the secondary assist on the play.
- Then just three minutes later, Brockport responded to tie the game at 3-3.
- The game would go to overtime, tied 3-3 with Nazareth leading in shots, 32-29.
- With just three seconds remaining in overtime, Blake Frost scored a beautiful goal to give the Golden Flyers the win, 4-3.
