Albertus Magnus Gets Goals From Four Different Players In Win Over St. John Fisher

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's ice hockey team split the weekend as it defeated the Cardinals of St. John Fisher University in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) matchup, 4-1 on Saturday morning.

Molly Martin (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored her team-leading 16th goal of the season, Kayla Clark (Avon, Conn.), Kalyn Reynolds (Newington, Conn.), and Blayne Dussold (Union, Mo.) all added a goal in the win.

Christmas Johnson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) earned the win in net, making 17 saves. Johnson now has 2,000 career saves after today's game, and now sits at 2,006 in her career.

The win came on senior day as Clark and Madeline Sheffield (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) were both honored before the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons got on the board first at the 11:21 mark of the first period as Martin slapped a shot from distance past Cardinals goaltender, Brynn Bacak, making it a 1-0. 
  • Albertus extended their lead to 2-0 after Clark buried a rebound off Martin's shot at the 9:45 mark of the second period. Martin and Kurtia Yetman (Winnipeg, Manitoba) were credited with the assists.
  • The Falcons continued to extend their lead as Reynolds recieved a cross ice pass from Gabriella Dellacroce (Woodbridge, Conn.), who threaded the Cardinal defense, finishing the puck past Bacak for an early third period goal just 31 seconds into play. 
  • St. John Fisher added a goal on the power play, as Cecilia Stewart found the back of the net to score the lone goal for the Cardinals, making it a 3-1 game at the 7:13 mark of the third period. Assists were credited to Sophie Grant and Ellie Prantner.
  • At 18:01, Dussold put the finishing touches with a goal off of an assist from Alana Laser (San Jose, Ca.).
