St. John Fisher Ends Inaugural Season With 4-1 Win Over Hiram

HIRAM, OH – The St. John Fisher men's ice hockey team scored four unanswered goals, including three in the third period, to end its inaugural season with a 4-1 non-league road victory over Hiram on Friday evening. The Cardinals finished the year 12-13 overall (5-11 United Collegiate Hockey Conference) and won their final three games.

How It Happened

Hiram struck first midway through the second period when Anthony Arthurs buried a feed from Shane Ward, but their lead didn't last very long. St. John Fisher junior forward Leyton Pettypiece knotted the game up at one four minutes later with his fourth goal of the season on an assist from senior forward Elijah Devereaux.

Freshman defender Charlie Robinson gave the Cardinals the lead about seven minutes into the third period, finding the back of the net with help from freshman forwards James Evans and Cannon Lentz. Freshman forward Mitchell Ferras and junior forward Brendan Merriman added unassisted tallies later in the period to close out the victory.

The Cardinals finished with an enormous advantage in shots on goal, 60-15. St. John Fisher goaltender Marcus Ouellet, who made 14 saves, faced nine shots in the first period and just five over the second and third periods combined.
