PINE VALLEY, NY - The Elmira College men's hockey team played their final game of the season today versus the Valiants of Manhattanville University. The Soaring Eagles came out on top in a thrilling 6-5 game.

Manhattanville opened the afternoon's scoring eight minutes in, then doubled their lead shortly after. The Soaring Eagles responded well, as strong passing on a three-on-two led to a nice move by Nicholas Bennett to beat the Manhattanville goaltender. Forty seconds later, Austin Jerzak jumped on a loose puck off a faceoff and scored with a quick snapshot, tying the game at 2 before the first intermission.

The Valiants regained their lead five minutes into the second, finding a loose puck in front of the net and scoring. Shortly after, they added another goal on the rush to extend their lead to two, but Tyler Schwindt responded thirty seconds later with a rebound goal to make it 4–3. Two minutes later, the Valiants scored from the slot to reclaim their two-goal advantage. The Soaring Eagles refused to go away, as Seth Ferguson deflected a puck into the net two minutes later. With a minute left in the period, Brock MacDonald tipped in a nice pass from Cam Lowe to tie the game at 5.

With a chance to take the lead on a power play with six minutes remaining, MacDonald netted his second of the game, tipping in a feed from Eric Bertelsen. The Valiants had a power-play opportunity of their own shortly after, but a strong penalty kill from the Soaring Eagles limited them to just two shots, both saved by Brody Haynes. With five seconds left and a faceoff in EC's zone, Manhattanville drew up a play for a one-timer, but Haynes stood tall and secured the 6–5 win for the Soaring Eagles.
