ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nick Charron scored the tying goal with under eight minutes left in regulation Tuesday as Nazareth and Fredonia played to a 2-2 tie in a non-conference men's hockey at the Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex.
Despite a 47-32 edge in shots, Nazareth settled for the draw and saw its overall record change to 2-5-1 overall. Fredonia is 4-3-1.
Charron also assisted on Nazareth's first goal that was scored by Mike Herrera. David Reduzzi, making his second career start, played well in goal with 30 saves.
Herrera's goal was his first of the season at 12:12 of the opening period. Charron passed the puck in front of the goal and Herrera was able to redirect it past Fredonia goaltender Zach Willms, who finished with 45 saves. Carmine Alberga also was credited with an assist.
Fredonia went ahead with a pair of goals in the second period. The first came just 35 seconds into the period and the second at 15:24.
Nazareth turned up the pressure in the third period in outshooting the Blue Devils 14-5 and Charron finally cashed in with assists from Matt Lakus and Nick Falso.
The teams then skated through a five-minute three-on-three overtime without any goals scored. Reduzzi made four saves and Willms had three.
Nazareth is off for the weekend, then resumes its United Collegiate Hockey Conference schedule Dec. 2 at Wilkes.
