ROCHESTER, NY - The United Collegiate Hockey Conference has announced dates and procedures for its postseason tournaments.
“We are excited to provide our student-athletes with a meaningful regular season and conference tournament experience,” said UCHC Commissioner Chuck Mitrano. ”It is surely a unique season but we were determined to provide quality opportunities.”
Highlighting this year’s championship play will be the use of an eight team tournament field for both men’s and women’s championships. The women’s tournament had previously expanded to eight teams for the 2019-20 season, and will be joined by an eight team men’s tournament field for the first time. All previous UCHC Men’s Championships were conducted with six teams. The expansion of the men’s field is for this season only to help adjust for an inequitable number of games completed due to COVID.
The tournaments will be seeded using points percentage*, with built-in safeguards also employed, to adjust seedings in the event a team is unable to play at least 50 percent of its games. Pairings will also be subject to adjustment so that quarter and semi-final competition takes travel distance into consideration.
Both tournaments will be single elimination this season.
Dates for the tournaments will be as follows. Dates are subject to change in light of unforeseen circumstances, if necessary. All games will be played at the rink of the higher seed.

Points percentage is defined as the percentage of points a team has earned, relative to the amount it could have earned in the games it has played. For example, if a team has three regulation wins in four games, it would have nine points out of the twelve available, and thus would have a points percentage of .750.
