No. 6 Utica Extends Winning Streak to Five Games With Victory Over Wilkes

UTICA, NY - The No. 6 Utica University men's ice hockey team won a fifth straight game on Friday. The Pioneers scored the first four goals of the game and never looked back as they rolled by visiting Wilkes University by a 6-2 score in United Collegiate Hockey Conference action at the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

The Pioneers improve to 6-2-0 overall, and a 5-0 conference record. They have thirteen out of a possible fifteen standings points and sit just a single point off the conference lead. Wilkes falls to 2-4-1 overall, and 1-3-0 in conference play.

Brandon Osmundson logged his 100th career point with an assist on a third period goal. He becomes just the fifth player in program history to achieve that milestone exclusively at Utica.

Connor Fedorek led the Utica offense with three assists. Jaxon Rutkowski and Kimball Johnson logged a pair of assists of their own on a solid night moving the puck for the Utica blue line.

Mic Curran led Utica forwards with a goal and an assist. Jakob Breault, John Moncovich, Remy Parker, Shane Murphy, and Lucas Herrmann also had a goal apiece.

Bryan Landsberger stopped 18 of 20 to earn the win.

Billy Berry and Cam Lowe had goals for Wilkes. Michael Patterson-Jones turned aside 34 shots in the loss.

As with many of their recent victories, a string of goals set the tone for the Pioneers to win wire-to-wire. They opened on a four goal run, with Mic Curran and Remy Parker netting goals in the first period, and newcomers Jakob Breault and Lucas Herrmann in the second period.

Berry broke up the shutout with an unassisted goal at 6:24 of the second period. Shane Murphy responded at 11:05 with his second career goal, and second in as many games for a 5-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Osmundson nabbed his 100th career point to open the third on a deflection goal scored by longtime teammate John Moncovich. With a 6-1 Pioneer lead in hand, Cam Lowe scored in the final five minutes to finalize a 6-2 score.

The two teams meet again at 2 p.m. Sunday.
