The United Collegiate Hockey Conference is pleased to announce its weekly award winners, released on December 5, 2022, for games played from November 28-December 4. The UCHC weekly awards program highlights the top performances from around the conference over each week of the regular season. It is the sixth UCHC weekly honors release of the 2022-23 season.
UCHC MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Isaac Chapman, Alvernia, So., F, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia
Chapman tallied two goals and three assists in a weekend split versus Manhattanville. In a 5-3 setback to the Valiants on Friday, Chapman recorded two assists in a near third period comeback for the Golden Wolves. In an 8-4 win on Saturday, Chapman had two goals and an assist. He recorded a power play goal to give Alvernia the 3-2 lead. He then recorded Alvernia's fifth goal of the game and assisted on the seventh.
UCHC WOMEN’S CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Abbey Luth, Nazareth, Gr., F, Dartmouth, MA
Luth led Nazareth to a weekend sweep with a pair of wins at Neumann. Luth scored two goals and had one assist in each game to finish the weekend with six points on four goals and two assists. She was also plus-6 for the weekend and fired seven shots on goal.
UCHC WOMEN’S CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ariel Williamson, Arcadia, So., F, Rome, NY
Williamson had six points on three goals and three assists in two Arcadia victories over Hilbert. In Saturday's victory, she scored a goal and added an assist. In Sunday's contest, Williamson had two goals and two assists in the Knights' 9-0 victory over the Hawks. She was also plus-5 on Sunday.
UCHC MEN’S CO-GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Ty Franchi, Lebanon Valley, So., G, Denville, NJ
Franchi picked up his second shutout of the year with 28 saves to lead the Dutchmen to a key 2-0 victory over Neumann on Friday evening. He stopped seven shots in the first period, 10 in the second, and then 11 shots in the third. Franchi made two saves in the final two minutes after the Knights pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker.
UCHC MEN’S CO-GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Bryan Landsberger, Utica, So., G, Montreal, Quebec
Landsberger kept the No. 7 Oswego State Lakers off of the board on Saturday for his first shutout of the year in Utica's 4-0 win in the 18th annual Teddy Bear Toss game. Landsberger made 23 saves, including 10 in the third period en route to his eighth win of the season.
UCHC WOMEN’S GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Angela Hawthorne, Utica, Jr., G, Santa Clara, CA
Hawthorne went a perfect 3-0 in net for the Utica this past week with one win over Morrisville and a pair over Alvernia. Hawthorne allowed one goal per game while averaging 22.7 saves per outing. The junior shined with 34 stops in Tuesday's win over Morrisville while recording her fourth shutout of the year in Saturday's 4-0 win over Alvernia.
UCHC MEN’S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Connor MacDonnell, Stevenson, Fr., F, Milford, MI
MacDonnell added two goals in the team's first meeting against Nazareth on Friday, recording his first-career multi-goal game. He added an assist in the meeting as well for his first three-point game of his career and was plus-3 in the victory.
UCHC WOMEN’S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Leah Hatcher, Arcadia, Fr., D, Rogers, MN
Hatcher recorded four points on three goals and an assist in a weekend sweep at Hilbert. In Saturday's victory over Hilbert, Hatcher scored the first two goals of her career. She followed that up by tallying a goal and an assist in the Knights' 9-0 victory over Hilbert on Sunday.
