No. 2 Utica Returns Home To Earn Shutout Win Over Neumann

UTICA, NY - The No. 2 Utica University men's hockey team returned home for the first time in over a month and celebrated with a 5-0 shutout win over the visiting Neumann University Knights on Friday evening. 
 
Mic Curran had four points on the night with two goals and a pair of assists. Remy Parker, John Moncovich and Kimball Johnson each had one goal as well. Connor Fedorek, Justin Allen and Lucas Herrmann had two assists each while Jayson Dobay and Buster Larsson recorded one apiece. 
 
In goal, Bryan Landsberger recorded his third shutout this season, all coming over the last four games, as he stopped all 15 shots that came his way. 
 
As a unit, Utica got off a whopping 46 shots, 21 of which coming in the second period. 
 
After 11 shots over the first 13 minutes of play, Mic Curran was able to put Utica ahead with a goal coming off Jayson Dobay and Connor Fedorek assists. The Pioneers went on to take its 1-0 lead into the intermission after limiting the Knights to just two shots over the first 20 minutes. 
 
The team really found its stride in the second period with a total 21 shots to Neumann's seven. Just 29 seconds into the period, Parker found the back of the net while Moncovich did the same a while later at the 17:21 mark. Curran and Johnson put the icing on the cake in the third period with a goal each to top off Utica's shutout victory. 
 
No. 2 Utica (11-2-1, 9-0-0 UCHC) and Neumann will meet again on Saturday night for Parkway Drugs Night. Puck drop from the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium is set for 7 p.m.
