Arcadia Holds on to Defeat Alvernia

READING, PA – The Arcadia University men's ice hockey team picked up three points in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) play, as it defeated Alvernia, 5-4, on Friday night.
 
With the victory, the Knights improved to 4-10-2 overall, and 4-7-2 in UCHC play.
 
First-years Brendan Dicker and Cody Mastay each found the back of the net twice to lead the Knights. Justin Song scored the other goal for Arcadia.
 
Russ Tedesco, Aaron Hamel and Drew Iannucci all dished out two assists.
 
Fletcher Bolda got the start in net and made 35 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Alvernia scored the game's opening goal just 20 seconds in to take a 1-0 lead. The Knights answered two minutes later with Mastay's first of the game. Kyle Peters tallied the lone assist on the goal.
  • The Knights added two power play goals before the end of the opening period to extend their lead to 3-1. Song scored the first, which was assisted by Hamel and Tedesco, and Dicker scored the second. Hamel and Iannucci had the helpers on Dicker's first goal of the game.
  • Dicker scored his second of the game just 30 seconds into the second period, which also came on the power play. Iannucci and Tedesco had the assists on the score. Alvernia scored the next goal to cut Arcadia's lead to 4-2, but Mastay answered back just 10 seconds later to give the Knights their three goal lead back. Kocsis had the assist on the goal. Alvernia added one more goal before the end of the second period to get within 5-3.
  • Alvernia scored a power play goal in the third period to cut Arcadia's lead to 5-4, but the Knights held on to take the conference win.
