SUNY Geneseo Rolls to 7-2 Win Over Manhattanville

GENESEO, NY - The SUNY Geneseo Men's Hockey team cruised past Manhattanvill in the first matchup of the weekend, winning 7-2. The Ice Knights improved to (4-0) on the season (3-0) in UCHC play.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Sophomore forward Carter Diceman linked up with first-year forward Jack McDonald at 4:19 into the first for the Ice Knights' first tally of the night. McDonald maneuvered around the opposition's goalie and buried the puck into the back of the net for his first career goal. Zach Purcell had the seond assist 

  • First-year forward Gabriel LaFlamme found sophomore forward Luke Panchisin to extend the Ice Knights' lead to two 9:00 into the first period. Four minutes after Panchisins goal, senior forward Cooper Fensterstock buried the puck into the net to score 3-0, assisted by Panchisin and LaFlamme.  

  • Geneseo started the second period where they left off in the first. Sophomore forward Filip Wiberg tipped junior forward Alex Dameskis shot past the Manhattanville goaltender on a powerplay 2:39 into the second, Panchisin with the secondary assist on the play. Manhattanville scored 12:01 into the second, bringing a 4-1 Ice Knight lead into the 3rd period.  

  • Dameski capitalized on another man-up opportunity 35 seconds into the third. Senior forward Peter Morgan and Luke Panchisin with assists on the play. The Ice Knights struck again 4:29 into the period, assists from sophomore defender Sean Melso and Jack McDonald.  

  • Manhattanville scored on the powerplay at 6:33. First-year forward Bryce Howard netted his first career goal for the Ice Knights in a quick response from the draw. First-year forward Nathan Stachowiak won the faceoff and tallied the assist on the goal.  

QUICK FACTS:  

  • Senior goaltender Adam Harris started in net for Geneseo and recorded 20 saves with a .909 save percentage 

  • Luke Panchisin led the game in points with one goal and three assists.  

  • Tonight's matchup marks the first meeting between the Ice Knights and Valiants in UCHC play.  

  •  The Ice Knights outshot their opposition 52-22.

The Ice Knights (4-0) will host the Valiants (2-1) again on Saturday, November 16th, at 4 p.m.
