Tobias Scores Twice as Nazareth Defeats Hamilton to Wrap up Calendar Year

ROCHESTER, NY - The Nazareth men's ice hockey team wrapped up its 2024 games with a 4-2 win over Hamilton on Friday night. Logan Tobias scored twice in the win.

The first period began quietly from a scoring stand, but game-play was anything but silent, both teams playing extremely physically. At the 11:07 mark, Josh Dressler scored unassisted with an aggressive shot from the wing.

Just four minutes later, Tobias scored his first goal of the game from Blake Frost and Jeremy Swartz.

Nazareth's defense held Hamilton scoreless in the first, giving the Golden Flyers a 2-0 advantage going into the second period.

Three minutes into the second period, Hamilton cut Nazareth's lead to one as they were able to sneak the puck past Lincoln Crosby in goal.

Tobias' second goal was scored in under seven minutes of second-period play on a power-play from Ethan Louisos.

Only two minutes later, on another power-play for Nazareth, Will Halecki scored off of assists from Frost and Daisuke Egusa.

Despite having more power-plays, Nazareth only scored two goals in the second period, leading Hamilton 4-1 as the battle continued to the third.

The power-plays continued in the final period, and this time Hamilton was able to score a goal at the 7:29 mark of the third, to close the gap to two.

At the 15:31 minute mark, Hamilton pulled its goalie to have a one-man advantage on offense, but excellent Nazareth defense kept Hamilton from scoring, and the game concluded at a score of 4-2.

Crosby had 36 total saves.

The Golden Flyers will be back on the ice in 2025, as they travel to Cortland on January 10th for a 5 p.m. competition.
