Torgner Leads No. 4 SUNY Geneseo to 4-0 Shutout Win Over Williams

GENESEO, NY - The No. 4 SUNY Geneseo men's hockey team took down the Ephs from Williams with an impressive 4-0 shutout victory on Sunday afternoon. Jacob Torgner made 22 saves in net and recorded the team's first shutout of the season to remain undefeated.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Knights opened the first period with their first goal of the night three minutes into the period. Dakota Zarudny had a beautiful wrap around to put the team ahead. Carter Diceman and Cannon Green were on the assist.  

  • Diceman netted the second goal of the game, tipping the puck off a shot from Tommy Winn and the Knights ended the first period leading 2-0. 

  • Late in the second, Luke Panchisin found the back of the net after a beautiful pass from Filip Wiberg in from of the net. Winn was awarded the second assist.  

  • The Knights scored their final goal of the night off a perfectly executed give and go. Peter Morgan passed it Panchisin at the top of the zone, who found Alex Dameski cross ice for the goal. Geneseo held strong for the remainder of the game, winning 4-0. 

QUICK FACTS: 

  • Jacob Torgner recorded the team's first shutout of the season, with 22 saves and keeping the Knights undefeated.  

  • Diceman and Panchisin each had a goal and assist for the Knights.  

  • Geneseo has won the last four games faced against the Ephs, the most recent being last year with a score of 8-3.
