Chatham Earns Weekend Sweep Over Manhattanville With Saturday Win

PITTSBURGH, PA - On Saturday, Chatham (3-7-1) played its second game of the weekend against the Manhattanville Valiants (3-6-1). The Cougars came out on top in this one 2-1.

In the first period neither team could find the back of the net. It was Geno Pichora making 12 saves for the Cougars while the offense attempted nine shots on goal. 

In the second period it was Brendan Pomerantz scoring the first goal of the game 11 minutes into the period. He was assisted by Carson Granier and Nick Babbie. The Valiants would answer back with a goal of their own to tie the game at one.

In the third period it was Camden Smith breaking the tie for the Cougars when he scored his first career goal to put the Cougars ahead. He was assisted by Michael Roby and Kyle Contessa. That would be the extent of the scoring and the final score was 2-1.

Pichora made 42 saves on 43 attempts for a 97.7% save rate. Defensively Matthew Doyle led the Cougars with three blocks. The Cougars are now off for the Winter break and will return to action on January 10th, when they travel to Buffalo, N.Y. to take on Buffalo State with a 7 PM puck drop.
