Chatham Falls on Senior Day to Buffalo State

Pittsburgh, PA - On Saturday the Cougars (3-9-1) hosted the Buffalo State Bengals (10-5) for senior recognition day. The Cougars hosted one of their largest home crowds of the season and the final score was 5-3 in favor of the Bengals.

In the first period it was the Bengals striking first when they opened a 1-0 lead six-and-a-half minutes into the game. The Cougars answered back with seven minutes remaining in the first period when Evan Mitchell scored his first goal of the season assisted by Milan Cermak and Oscar Sarinen. That made the score 1-1 which would be the score at the end of the first period.

In the second period, the Bengals came out on the offensive adding three more goals to their total ending the period with a 4-1 score. 

In the third period the Cougars came out and scored back-to-back goals in the first five minutes of the period to cut the Bengal lead to one. The first goal was scored by Dylan Young assisted by Brendan Merriman and Zack Conner. Then it was Nick Cyprian scoring on the assists from Tyler Samodral and Conner. The Cougars tried to get the equalizer but were unable to do so. The Bengals added a late empty net goal to make the final score 5-3.

Offensively the Cougars were led by Zack Conner who had two assists. The Cougars will be back in action on January 17th for a UCHC weekend matchup against SUNY Brockport with a 7 PM puck drop in Brockport, N.Y.
