No. 2 SUNY Geneseo Rolls to 9-2 Win over SUNY Fredonia

FREDONIA, NY - The Geneseo Men's Hockey Team cruised past Fredonia 9-2 this evening. Filip Wiberg led the team with two goals and Geneseo advanced to 11-1-1 for the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Nicholas Kovacs opened the night for Geneseo at 14:58, notching his first collegiate goal. Cooper Fensterstock was on the assist.  

  • Carter Diceman and Dakota Zarudny both tallied one in the first, with Fensterstock and Stefan Miklakos assisting on both goals and Geneseo headed into the locker room leading 3-0.  

  • Cannon Green found the back of the net early in the second, capitalizing on mistakes made by Fredonia with help from Zarudny. A minute later, Filip Wiberg aadded to the score on a one-timer and extended the Knights lead to five.  

  • Tommy Winn connected with Alex Dameski to make the score 6-0; Peter Morgan had the second assist. Less than a minute later, Gabriel LaFlamme snuck one past the goalie for his first career goal with seven minutes left in the second.  

  • Fredonia got on the board shortly after and the Knights headed into the third leading 7-1.  

  • Wiberg secured his second goal of the night halfway through the third off a pass from Henri Spoof. Giuseppe Fiorillo followed their lead with his first college goal unassisted. Fredonia finished the game with one last goal and the Knights ended their road trip winning 9-2.  

QUICK FACTS: 

  • Nicholas Kovacs, Gabriel LaFlamme and Giuseppe Fiorillo all tallied their first collegiate goal this evening.  

  • Dakota Zarudny and Copper Fensterstock each had three points this evening- Zarudny with one goal/two assists and Fensterstock with three assists.  

  • Jacob Torgner secured his fifth win of the season, making 31 saves in net.
