UCHC Announces 2024-25 Women’s Award Winners and All-Conference Selections

The United Collegiate Hockey Conference announced its 2024-25 Women’s Award Winners and All-Conference teams on Tuesday, March 4. The awards were selected through an all-encompassing survey of the league’s four head coaches.

First-year standout Amy Laskowski of Nazareth University and senior Jordan Kowalski of Utica University were named 2024-25 UCHC Co-Players of the Year. Laskowski was also named the Rookie of the Year. Nazareth sophomore Allie Zack was named the 2025 UCHC Defensive Player of the Year, while Utica goaltender Angela Hawthorne was named UCHC Goaltender of the Year for the third time in her illustrious career.
 
Laskowski, a native of Clarendon Hills, IL, is enjoying a tremendous debut for the Golden Flyers, leading the league lead in scoring with 26 points on 13 goals and 13 assists and is plus-24. She led the league in scoring during league play with 15 points on seven goals and eight assists. Laskowski has excelled over the second half of the season, tallying 10 goals and 18 points over a 10-game stretch from Jan. 21 to Feb. 21. Laskowski is Nazareth’s first UCHC Player and Rookie of the Year in program history. She is also the first player in league history to be named Player and Rookie of the Year in the same season.
 
Kowalski, a native of Chicopee, MA, leads all UCHC players with 13 goals on the season. She also leads the league with four game-winning goals and three hat-tricks and is tied for the league lead with four power-play goals. She scored seven goals in 12 UCHC regular season contests. Kowalski is Utica’s third UCHC Player of the Year in the last four seasons, joining Georgiana Santullo (2022-23) and Erica Sloan (2023-24).

Zack earned UCHC Defensive Player of the Year honors after. A native of Lake Zurich, IL, Zack has 21 points on six goals and 15 assists in 2024-25 and is a league-best plus-29. She recorded 12 points (five goals and seven assists) and was plus-13 in 12 UCHC regular season contests. Zack is Nazareth’s second UCHC Defensive Player of the Year, joining teammate Julia Holmes, who won the honor in 2022-23.
 
Hawthorne was named the UCHC Goaltender of the Year for the third time in her career. A native of Santa Clara, CA, Hawthorne is 17-7-0 on the season with a 1.14 goals against average and league-best .955 save percentage with seven shutouts. In league play, Hawthorne went 9-3-0 with a 0.90 goals against average and .955 save percentage. Hawthorne, who recently played in her 100th career game between the pipes, is 69-17-5 with a 1.15 career goals against average, .950 save percentage and 24 career shutouts. She is among the UCHC career leaders in every goaltending category.
 
Nazareth head coach Chris Baudo and Utica head coach Melissa Lomanto shared 2024-25 UCHC Coach of the Year honors. Baudo has led the Golden Flyers to 19 wins, while the Golden Flyers won the UCHC Regular Season for the fourth straight season and are aiming for their fourth straight UCHC title. It is Baudo’s fourth UCHC Coach of the Year honor (2018-19, 2021-22 and 2023-24). He has led the Golden Flyers to a 135-32-8 record in seven seasons.
 
Lomanto is in her first season behind the bench at her alma mater and had led the Pioneers to a 19-7-0 record and third straight trip to the UCHC Championship game. Utica has won three games against nationally-ranked opponents this season.
 
Julia Holmes of Nazareth University and Hawthorne earned All-UCHC first team honors for the third consecutive year. Forwards Ivey Lyden of Nazareth and Riley Calhoun of Utica joined Laskowski and Kowalski on the first team at forward, while Utica’s Autumn Mish joined Holmes on the first team as defensemen. Madison Novotny of Utica, a second team defenseman, garnered All-UCHC accolades for the fourth straight season. Nazareth and Utica each had nine student-athletes earn all-conference honors to lead all UCHC programs.

The United Collegiate Hockey Conference is a collaborative effort between eleven institutions to provide a competitive environment and structure for NCAA Division III men's and women's ice hockey in the Eastern United States.
