Top-two Seeds Nazareth and Elmira to Host UCHC Women’s Semifinal Contests on Saturday, February 28

Top-seed Nazareth College will host No. 4 seed Albertus Magnus College at 2 p.m., while No. 2 seed Elmira College welcomes No. 3 seed Utica University at 3 p.m. in semifinal action of the 2026 UCHC Women’s Hockey Championship Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 28. The two semifinal winners will meet in the 2026 UCHC Championship game on Saturday, March 7.
 
The UCHC Champion earns an automatic berth into the 2026 NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Championship, which begins on Saturday, March 14.

No. 4 Albertus Magnus at No. 1 Nazareth, Saturday, Feb. 28 – 2 p.m.
Nazareth enters the UCHC Championship Tournament with a 24-0-1 overall record, ranked second nationally in the NCAA Women’s Hockey National Power Index. The Golden Flyers are the only team without a loss in Division III women’s hockey to date. Nazareth went a perfect 14-0-0 and earned 42 out of a possible 42 points in league play this season. Nazareth is out-scoring its opponents, 116-28 this season and have 10 players with at least 10 points and six with at least 20 points. Sophomore Amy Laskowski leads the UCHC and is among the NCAA leaders with 24 goals and 45 points with a plus-33 rating, while Brooke Judkiewicz has 20 assists and also has nine goals. Meredith Boettcher has 16 goals and 28 assists, while Allie Zack leads the league with a plus-38 rating. In goal, Mia Gonsalves is 22-0-1 with a 1.23 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
 
Albertus Magnus enters the UCHC Semifinal in its first season as a league member with a 16-9-1 record, having finished 8-6-0 in league play for 23 points. The Falcons won their first UCHC postseason game, 3-2 in double overtime over No. 5 seed St. John Fisher on Feb. 25. Kalyn Reynolds scored 1:51 in double overtime to lift Albertus Magnus to the win. Molly Martin leads the Falcons in scoring with team-high totals of 16 goals and 28 points, while Tori Walsh has added 11 goals and Gabriella Dellacroce has a team-best 13 assists. Seven different Falcons have at least 10 points. In net, Christmas Johnson has a 13-7 record, 2.12 goals against average and a .930 save percentage.
 
Nazareth won both regular seasons between the two schools last weekend at the Tim Horton’s Iceplex in Rochester, by scores of 5-1 on Feb. 20 and 7-0 the following day.
 
No. 3 Utica at No. 2 Elmira, Saturday, Feb. 28 – 3 p.m.
Elmira, winners of the first four UCHC Championships from 2018-2021, enter the 2026 UCHC Tournament with a 17-5-2 overall record, having finished 11-2-1 in league play for 35 points. The Soaring Eagles are out-scoring opponents, 87-34 this season and have eight players with at least 10 points. Anna Lugge leads the Soaring Eagles in scoring with 19 goals, 17 assists, 36 points and a plus-22 rating. MK Boyle is second on the team in scoring with 23 points on 13 goals and 10 assists, while Abby Eselunas and Alayna Toole have 10 goals apiece. Toole leads all of Division III with five shorthanded goals. Sara Sevcikova is 8-4-1 in net with a 1.75 goals against average and a .901 save percentage, while Oliva Last is 6-1-1 with a 0.94 goals against average and a .954 save percentage to go along with four shutouts.
 
Utica, who has played in each of the last three UCHC Championship games, defeated No. 6 Manhattanville by a score of 1-0 in the UCHC First Round on Feb. 25, as Tess Barrett scored the lone goal for the Pioneers and Katie Sheahan stopped all 31 shots she faced foe the shutout. Utica finished 8-6-0 in league competition. The Pioneers have six players with at least 10 points. Samantha Dobrzybski leads the team in scoring with 15 points on five goals and 10 assists. Alex Venning and Katie Sheahan have split time in net this season. Venning has a 1.85 goals against average and .931 save percentage in 15 games, while Sheahan has a 2.14 goals against average and .925 save percentage with three shutouts in 15 contests. The Pioneers have allowed just four goals over their last seven games, with four shutouts during that span.
 
Elmira won both regular season meetings between the two schools, 3-1 at the Murray Athletic Center on Nov. 21 and 2-1 at the Nexus Center in Utica the following day.
