Arcadia Men’s Ice Hockey Picks Up Program’s First Win at King’s

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Arcadia University men's ice hockey team completed an important milestone with the program's first victory on Friday night. The Knights defeated King's College, 4-2, as head coach Vincent Pietrangelo led his squad to the historic win, while capturing his first career victory as a head coach.

Mike Kocsis collected a pair of goals to lead the Knights offense, while James Spaargaren and Donnie Feldman also added a score. Lucas Brine led the Knights between the pipes with a game-high 32 goals, including several huge saves late in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kocsis opened the scoring with an even strength goal in the first 40 seconds of play following a faceoff in the offensive end. Cam Parrott set up the opportunity with a beautiful centering pass from behind the net. Kocsis then buried a shot in the near-side post for the opening score.

- The Monarchs responded with two-unanswered goals during the 8:06 and 16:08 mark to take the lead. However, Spaargaren evened the score with an equalizing tally in the final minute of the first period. Arcadia took advantage of another offensive end faceoff as Spaargaren's stick deflected a Jake Frankenfield wrist shot to the back of the net, 2-2.

- The Knights regained the lead as Kocsis connected on his second goal of the game. After an offensive zone faceoff win, the forward beat the goaltender to his glove side with a wrist shot from center, 3-2.

- Arcadia added a powerplay goal to pull ahead by two scores with 13:18 left in regulation. Feldman cleaned up a Knights rebound to give the Knights some breathing room over the Monarchs. Moments later, Lucas Brine made a pair of clutch saves on a shorthanded breakaway attempt for the Monarchs.

- After the Monarchs pulled within one goal with 2:12 left in regulation, the Knights tightened up its defense as Brine made a pair of key stops in the remaining minutes of play.
