No. 2 Utica Blanks Manhattanville on the Road

PURCHASE, NY - The No.2 Utica University men's hockey team returned to action with a bang on Friday night as the team shutout the Manhattanville College Valiants 3-0 in UCHC play. 
 
Jakob Breault netted the game winner for the Pioneers at 3:08 in the third while Buster Larsson (18:33) and Lucas Hermann (19:29) hit empty netters to ice the game. Matt Wood, Kimball Johnson, Justin Allen, Mic Curran and Remy Parker each tallied an assist each in the win. 
 
In net, Bryan Landsberger totaled 21 saves in his ninth win and second shutout of the season. 
 
Utica outshot Manhattanville 43-21 on the night while finishing with a 2-1 power play edge. 
 
The Pioneers controlled the offensive zone throughout the first 40 minutes of play but couldn't break through for a goal. The team held a 17-4 shot on goal advantage after the first period and a 31-13 edge after two full as the game remained scoreless entering the third. 
 
In the fourth minute of the third, Breault scored off a Wood assist to give Utica a 1-0 lead. The what would be game-winner served as the junior's sixth of the season, tying him for the team lead along with Remy Parker. 
 
From there, Utica held the Valiants to five shots on goal throughout the remainder of the period. Larsson extended the team's lead in the 19th minute off of Allen and Johnson assists while Hermann put the game completely out of reach less than a minute later to seal the Pioneer win. 
 
No. 2 Utica (9-2-1, 7-0-0 UCHC) and Manhattanville meet again on Saturday afternoon from Purchase, NY. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
